Hawk Women’s Soccer Reenters NSCAA Women’s East Regional Rankings at No. 10

NSCAA East Regional Rankings (Oct. 25)

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team found its way back in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women's East Regional Rankings on Tuesday, making the No. 10 spot in the Oct. 25 release of the weekly list.

The Hawks went 2-0-1 last week, which included wins over SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Fredonia and a tie against Buffalo State. New Paltz's victory over the Red Dragons on Tuesday, Oct. 18, was its first win against the Red Dragons since 1988, and its triumph over Fredonia on Friday, Oct. 21, vaulted the Hawks into the 2011 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. After trailing by a 2-0 score on Saturday, Oct. 22, to Buffalo State, New Paltz stormed back and wound up battling the Bengals to a 2-2 tie in its regular-season finale.

New Paltz (11-5-2, 6-2-1 SUNYAC) holds the No. 2 seed in the 2011 SUNYAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament and earns a bye through the quarterfinal round. The Hawks face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between third-seeded Fredonia and sixth-seeded The College at Brockport at Alumni Field on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the semifinals. New Paltz has already equaled its best-ever win total in program history, and the Hawks rank 22nd in NCAA Division III in goals-against average (0.484) as of the Oct. 24 release of the weekly rankings.
