On Championship
Wednesday we had the best from the Co-Rec League square off and the top 2 teams from the Mens bracket fight for the right to be named Champions and bragging rights for the entire year.
We started with the Co-Rec Championship game with Chaboys and Slate going head to head. Sarah DeMarzo opened up the scoring
tonight with goal midway though the 1st period and it was the only goal until about midway through the 2nd when Dave Gardiner put his first of three
tonight, which was the eventual game when as Chaboys are now the new defending Co-Rec Champions as they win 6-1. Dave Gardiner was named the MVP for his efforts, not only by scoring goals but also playing defensive and moving the ball to open team mates.
Threepeat came into
tonight with only 1 loss in 4 years and they put their streak on the line
tonight as they went head-to-head with Ninao. The first period was a very defensive battle as the Goalies, Freddy Davis of Ninao and James Berbrick of Threepeat, put on a show with making spectacular save, one after the other. Threepeat Captain, Evan Matel did sneak one past Freddy as the only goal of the period. In the 2nd period is when Threepeat gathered their composure and showed Ninao what it takes to win back to back Championships and what it will take to win their third. Evan finished with a game 3 goals and the MVP of the Championship due to his leadership and his inability to lose. Threepeat lived up to their name by winning their Third Consecutive Championship, effective becoming the New Paltz Floor Hockey Dynasty.
