ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team wrapped up day one of a two-day tri-meet against SUNY Geneseo and the Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday night at RIT. Geneseo leads the Hawks by a 120-28 score, while RIT holds a 120-32 edge over New Paltz.

Sophomore Jack Spader (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) headlined day one for the Hawks, as he won the 1,650 freestyle in 17:37.87. Freshman Rod Taskindoust (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) placed sixth in the 200 individual medley (2:08.37) and the 100 backstroke (58.38), while freshman Ethan Cooke (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) touched seventh in the 100 butterfly (56.46).

The Hawks' 200 freestyle relay foursome of freshmen Ryan Lindgren (Hurley, N.Y./Kingston) and Brandon Finn, Cooke and senior Bryan Farm (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) checked in with a third-place time of 1:31.77, which proved to be New Paltz's best relay performance of the day.

New Paltz continues action at the meet tomorrow at 1 p.m.
