Meet Results
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team (2-5) fell, 126-74, to SUNY Oneonta (3-1) on Saturday afternoon at Elting Pool. It marked New Paltz's final home meet of the 2012-13 season.
The Hawks were unable to touch first in any of the events contested at the meet, though the team did claim six second-place finishes.
Sophomore
Jack Spader (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) and freshman
Rod Taskindoust (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) led the way with a pair of second-place results each. Spader was runner-up in the 1,000 freestyle (10:24.40) and the 500 freestyle (5:08.83), while Taskindoust placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:49.75) and the 100 freestyle (50.74). Freshman
Brandon Finn (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland) was second in the 50 freestyle (23.08) and sophomore
Marton Keri (Budapest, Hungary/Moricz Zsigmond Gimnazium) finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.43) to round out the Hawks' runner-up performances.
Of note for Oneonta, Ryan Walsh clocked a pool-record time of 52.82 in the 100 butterfly. That swim eclipsed the former facility standard of 53.00, which Eric Culver of New Paltz High School set in 2009.
New Paltz competes in its final tune-up before the 2013 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, Feb. 9, as it travels across the Hudson River for the Vassar Sprint Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
