BUFFALO – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team earned the State University of New York Athletic Conference's (SUNYAC) regular-season title with a pair of victories on Saturday during the third round of SUNYAC Pool Play hosted by Buffalo State. By virtue of winning the regular-season title, New Paltz will host the SUNYAC Volleyball Championship Tournament from Friday-Sunday, Nov. 8-10, at the Hawk Center.
New Paltz completed its undefeated run through SUNYAC play Saturday, topping SUNY Cortland, 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 22-25, 25-23), before downing SUNY Potsdam, 3-1 (25-15, 25-21, 25-27, 25-20). The Hawks will serve as host to the SUNYAC Tournament for the second time ever, as they hosted the championship tournament back in 2009. That year, they won the SUNYAC title, which still stands as the program's lone conference championship.
On Friday, Nov. 8, third-seeded SUNY Fredonia will square off with sixth-seeded Cortland and fifth-seeded Potsdam will match up with fourth-seeded SUNY Plattsburgh in the quarterfinal round of the SUNYAC Tournament. On Saturday, Nov. 9, during the semifinal round, second-seeded Buffalo State encounters the winner of the Fredonia-Cortland match at 3 p.m., while top-seeded New Paltz takes on the winner of the Plattsburgh-Potsdam match at 6 p.m. The championship match is set for 12 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.
New Paltz, which extended its winning streak to 15, moves to 27-5 overall and 9-0 in the SUNYAC. The Hawks next return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. against Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Cortland drops to 14-17 overall and 4-5 in the SUNYAC, clinching the No. 6 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament. The Red Dragons are back in action next at the Emory Invitational from Friday-Saturday, Nov. 1-2, in Atlanta, Ga. Potsdam moves to 13-14 overall and 5-4 in the SUNYAC, clinching the No. 5 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament. The Bears next face St. Lawrence University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Anna Paulik (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) collected 19 and 16 digs, respectively. Freshman middle hitter
Morgan Roessler (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) finished with six total blocks, while Hack tallied five service aces. Senior setter
Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) kept the offense running with 49 assists.
For Cortland, senior middle hitter Ava Hintz powered the attack with 11 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, while senior libero/defensive specialist Krissy Silk and sophomore outside hitter Kim Givelechian provided 18 and 14 digs, respectively. Freshman setter Liz Roberts handed out 23 assists.
Just eight Hawks took the court in the nightcap against Potsdam, and four New Paltz hitters finished with double-digit kills totals: junior outside hitter
Katy Herbst (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) with 16, Borquist with 15, Roessler with 12 and junior outside hitter
Alex Bizub (Linden, N.J./Cranford) with 11. Herbst, Borquist and Hack all tied for the team-high in digs with 21.
Senior setter/right side Jenna Blujus led Potsdam with 12 kills and 24 digs, while junior libero/defensive specialist Gabby Arana compiled an impressive 34 digs in just four sets. Senior middle hitter Sarah Anderson totaled six blocks.
