POTSDAM, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team is headed to the Potsdam Regional title match for the second year in a row, and it will face off with top-seeded, nationally-No. 22 and host Clarkson University tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. with a spot in the national quarterfinals on the line. The Hawks prevailed, 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-19), over Richard Stockton College in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament on Saturday afternoon to advance to the regional final.

After eking out a straight-set win over Colby-Sawyer College in the First Round on Friday, the Hawks relied on a .181 hitting percentage and a -.059 Richard Stockton hitting percentage on Saturday to come away with the comfortable 3-0 victory. Both teams blocked extremely well, with New Paltz finishing with a 12-7 edge in the statistical category. The Hawks also had 10 service aces and pounded out 36 kills.

New Paltz rises to 34-6 overall and matches the program's best-ever single-season win total, which it achieved last year. Richard Stockton sees its season end at 31-6 overall. The Hawks have now qualified for the regional final in three of their four NCAA Tournament appearances.

New Paltz never trailed in the first set, with the Hawks jumping out to a 6-0 lead. New Paltz extended the advantage to 13-3 after freshman middle hitter Morgan Roessler (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) landed a kill, but Richard Stockton scored six of the next seven points to draw within five at 14-9. A 3-0 run and a pair of 4-0 runs helped the Hawks end up closing the set with a 25-15 triumph.

The Ospreys scored the first point of the second set, but it was mostly New Paltz from there on out. Two service aces from senior setter Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) pushed the Hawk lead to three at 4-1, and a 7-0 New Paltz scoring spree midway through the set handed the Hawks an 18-8 cushion. Richard Stockton was unable to score more than two points in a row the rest of the stanza, and New Paltz put the Ospreys on the ropes with a 25-14 set victory.

Richard Stockton took a 5-1 lead to start the third, but three consecutive Hawk blocks helped New Paltz cap off a 6-1 run that gave the Hawks a 7-6 advantage. New Paltz never trailed from that point forward and topped the Ospreys, 25-19, in the third stanza to take the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Becca Borquist (Rhinebeck, N.Y./Rhinebeck) keyed the Hawk attack with 14 kills and added eight digs. Senior middle hitter Liz Hauser (East Williston, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) and Roessler finished with seven and five total blocks, respectively, while King boated 29 assists, eight digs and five service aces.

For Richard Stockton, senior outside hitter Kasey Hennecke and senior opposite Nicole Serekian collected five kills each, while junior libero Emily Grube came up with a match-high 11 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Mary Schwartz compiled a team-high four block assists.
