BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team (5-1) cruised to a 9-0 victory over The College at Brockport (3-3) on Saturday afternoon following a tough 7-2 loss to SUNY Geneseo on Friday night.
Brockport put up a fight in each of the doubles flights, and the New Paltz tandem of junior
Jessica Schmidt (Commack, N.Y./Commack) and freshman
Veronika Paikin (North Woodmere, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) wound up having the easiest time, winning with an 8-2 triumph at flight two.
The Hawks then made quick work of the Golden Eagles in singles play, with Schmidt and sophomore
Allie Starke (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) losing only one game each at flights three and six, respectively.
New Paltz next faces the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. in Troy, N.Y.
