Jack Spader (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) won the 1,650 freestyle for the Hawks' lone event win of the evening, clocking a 17:44.75. He bested the runner-up finisher, sophomore Ben Ford from Geneseo, by 15 seconds. Freshman
Rob Cahn (Bellmore, N.Y./Bellmore JFK) took third in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 18:07.71.
Beyond Spader, New Paltz posted a pair of sixth-place finishes. Sophomore
Rod Taskindoust (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) touched sixth in the 100 butterfly (57.22), while senior
Brendan Meyer (Hurley, N.Y./Kingston) was sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:01.23).
New Paltz kicked off the meet with a second-place result in the 800 freestyle relay, as the foursome of Taskindoust, senior
Matt Distler (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls), freshman
Luke Zenir (Cherry Valley, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) and sophomore
Ethan Cooke (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) held off RIT with a time of 7:31.03.
