Introducing Intramural Tournament Tuesdays

The Athletic and Wellness Center kicks off this semester's intramural season with a new way to compete by introducing Tournament Tuesdays. Beginning on February 3, until the end of scheduled classes, the AWC will have one-day tournament style events free to all students, faculty and staff. Contests are open to men's, women's and co-rec teams, however it is not necessary to have a full team to be eligible to play.

In junction with this new section of intramurals, custom Tournament Tuesday shirts have been created and will be awarded to the winners of their respected brackets.

The first Tournament Tuesday will get under way with an old fashioned game of whiffleball. This will consist of teams of five battling through seven innings with the winner advancing to the next round while the loser is eliminated. There will be a ten run rule after five innings and in the event of a tie, an eighth inning will be held. Teams that are batting will not run the bases, instead an imaginary runner will be used to take the place of batters and the advancement of each hit will depend on where the ball lands within each designated zone. Bunting is not allowed. Scoring and outs are in accordance with traditional baseball rules.

Succeeding whiffleball, the Tournament Tuesday schedule will go as follows, however, if you have any suggestions or would like to see a certain activity as a Tournament Tuesday next semester please email npintramurals@newpaltz.edu
