Men's Soccer Ava Yurchison, Athletic Communications Intern

Senior Spotlight: Five Questions with Jake Falk

New Paltz athletic communications intern Ava Yurchison caught up with senior Jake Falk of the New Paltz men's soccer team for the week four release of the 2015-16 Senior Spotlight series that will have a new senior interviewed every Monday.

Q: Why did you choose to come to New Paltz?
A: "I really liked the school. First of all, it was a good school, and I loved the team that I had coming in. Coach also convinced me pretty well."

Q: If you could play one other sport at the collegiate level, what would it be and why?
A: "I'd have to say hockey. I loved playing hockey when I was younger. I had to choose between playing hockey or soccer, and I chose soccer; it was easier and I liked it better. Easier in like, I didn't have to wake up at 5 a.m. for practice. At the peewee level, the younger you are, the earlier you have to go [to practice], so I would have 5 a.m. practices before school, and I was like, 'I can't do this anymore.'"

Q: What are you going to miss the most about New Paltz?
A: "The overall vibe of being here. The view of the Mohonk Mountain, the people and, of course, playing soccer everyday; it's just what I am going to miss the most."

Q: What's your proudest moment being a Hawk?
A: "Definitely when we beat Geneseo my sophomore year here, 3-1, after they beat us pretty bad my freshman year. That, and also when we beat Brockport my freshman year [in the SUNYAC Tournament quarterfinals]. They beat us in the regular season, 5-2, and then we saw them in the playoffs. We beat them, 1-0, on their home turf. That was pretty awesome."

Q: What's your plan post graduation?
A: "I'm most likely going to go to law school somewhere in the New York area. Probably El Touro, NYU, New York Law or Fordham. Maybe even Hofstra."
