Shauna Mulkerin Selected as Assistant Softball Coach

NEW PALTZ, N.Y.Shauna Mulkerin, a former four-year starter for the Manhattanville College softball team, has been named an assistant women's softball coach at the State University of New York at New Paltz, as announced by the Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation.

"Shauna brings a lot of knowledge of the sport and the basic skills to get the job done," head softball coach Brittany Robinson said. "She was also part of a Manhattanville team that went to NCAA Regionals, and I think that perspective will really help our program out."

Mulkerin competed from 2012-15 on the Valiants' softball team, fashioning a batting average of .275 and an on-base percentage of .373. She also registered 63 RBI and 11 home runs on her career, and she served as a captain during her senior and graduate student seasons. She also was a three-year member of Manhattanville's women's basketball team. Mulkerin was named to the MAC Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2015.

Prior to New Paltz, Mulkerin worked as a sports information and communication intern at The College of New Rochelle and as a gameday intern in consumer sales and services with the New York Jets.

"I'm really excited to be a part of the New Paltz softball program," Mulkerin said. "I thank Brittany and Coach Dale [Martin] for giving me this opportunity, and I cannot wait to work with the girls. They are a great group. I think this team has great potential to do great things, so I expect the best out of them all the time. And I expect to win!"

Mulkerin earned her Bachelor of Arts in communication studies in 2014 and her Master of Science in sports business management in 2015, both from Manhattanville.
