NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – On Monday, April 4, the State University of New York at New Paltz Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation honored 33 student-athletes for their commitment to academics, as New Paltz held its annual Chi Alpha Sigma induction dinner at the College Terrace as a part of the fourth-annual NCAA Division III Week.
A total of 18 student-athletes (one senior and 17 juniors) were inducted into the organization, while 15 additional seniors were recognized as second-year honorees.
Chi Alpha Sigma is a non-profit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years. The Honor Society was founded at DePauw University on May 17, 1996, by DePauw head football coach and professor of kinesiology Nick Mourouzis.
