Box Score Clinton, NY – Coming off its first win of the season, the State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team had a tough task of going on the road and facing Hamilton College Tuesday.
The Hawks (1-3) showed a valiant effort, but ultimately could not keep up with the Continentals (4-0) fire power offensively, and took its third loss of the season, 104-66.
"Hamilton is a very efficient offensive team, well coached and talented," said SUNY New Paltz coach
Keith Kenney. "We knew how good they were and they showed that."

The Hawks remained within five at the start of the first half, but a 26-5 run by Hamilton midway through broke the game open and it entered the break with a 54-30 advantage.
The Continentals made nearly 52 percent from the floor, including 47 percent from 3-point range after burying 16 shots behind the arc. They had 47 points off the bench, and scored a season-high 104 points following back-to-back games netting 97.
"Our defensive effort could have been better as it can be for every game, but they shot 48 percent from 3," Kenney said. "You cannot beat any team that shoots that well… We didn't answer the bell, but are excited to bounce back in conference play this weekend."
For a third consecutive game, SUNY New Paltz had someone different to lead the team offensively. On Tuesday it was
Matthew English who finished with 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field, and 4-for-6 from the foul line. English also added 10 rebounds to book his first double-double of the season, while registering an assist and a steal in 18 minutes of play.
Nick Paquette followed with nine points, three rebounds and a block, while
Brandon Guest (four boards, two assists) and
Nick Arthur (five boards, one block) followed with eight points each.
The Hawks are back on their home floor this weekend in their first SUNYAC back-to-back of the season. They take on The College at Brockport Friday at 7:30 p.m. and then face SUNY Geneseo Saturday at 3 p.m.
