The Department of Athletics wishes to recognize and honor those individuals who have been associated with the University and the Department, and whose achievements both at SUNY New Paltz and in the ensuing years exemplify the ideals of success and good citizenship as characterized by the Department.
Number of Awards
There will be no more than five (5) inductees selected in any given year. If a candidate is nominated but not selected, their name will be carried for a five-year period.
Eligibility Requirements and Selection Criteria
Athletic Ability:
A nominee shall have:
- Been a full-time student at New Paltz for at least two (2) years.
- Been associated with at least one varsity sport for at least two (2) years.
- Not been associated with the University for a minimum of five (5) years.
- Shown athletic involvement, honors, awards, team contributions and/or leadership as evidenced by post season honors, such as All-American, All-State, All-Conference, individual championships and record setting performances.
Former New Paltz Administrator, Coach or Trainer:
A nominee shall have:
- Been an administrator, coach or trainer for at least five (5) years.
- Not been associated with the college through retirement or resignation for at least two (2) years.
- Demonstrated great character, leadership and an unwavering commitment to the development of SUNY New Paltz student-athletes.
Meritorious Service:
A nominee shall have:
- Had a unique identification with SUNY New Paltz athletics through moral and/or financial support.
- Exhibited a dedication and loyalty to the department of athletics.
Nominations
Nominations are solicited from Alumni Foundation Board Members, Department Chairpersons and faculty, past and present coaches and athletes, as well as members of the campus community at large.
Selecting Body
The selection committee shall nominate, select and set policy for the SUNY New Paltz Athletic Hall of Fame. The committee shall include but is not limited to, the Associate Director of Athletics, Director of Alumni Relations, Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Communications Director.
Timeline
Nomination materials will be available online. Completed forms are due by March 31, 2022. Induction and ceremony will occur in October, 2022 and continuing on an every other year basis. Plaques will be given to the inductees with a copy added to the Hall of Fame wall.
