Soles4Souls (April-May 2011)
Starting on Monday, April 4, SAAC began collecting new and gently worn shoes for the Soles4Souls charity, and it continued to gather footwear until Thursday, May 19.
Collection bins were present in the front of the Athletic & Wellness Center as well as in the Student Union Building, the IMS office and the Haggerty Administration Building. A full vanload of shoes were taken to ADS Logistic Services in Edison, N.J., to be distributed worldwide to those in need.
Adopt-A-Family (December 2010)
All of New Paltz's 15 varsity athletics programs participated
in the annual "Adopt-A-Family" program during the month of December. A SAAC initiative, the program is run through the Family Services’ Battered Women’s Service Program of Poughkeepsie.
"Movember" (November 2010)
During the month of November, the New Paltz baseball team
grew mustaches as a part of "Movember," which is a worldwide and monthlong initiative to raise awareness toward men's health concerns.
2010 SAAC Leaf Rake (Nov. 14, 2010)
An annunal initiative by the New Paltz Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC),
the Leaf Rake on Nov. 14, 2010 was deemed a success. All 15 programs participated and covered 20 different properties owned by elderly community members.
