SUNY New Paltz Athletics

DiGiovanna helped the Hawks reach the SUNYAC Volleyball Championship Tournament final for the third time in as many years with her standout play on the attack and on defense from Nov. 4-6. She posted a double-double in each of New Paltz’s matches on the week, all of which occurred at Dods Hall in Fredonia, N.Y. She lifted the Hawks to a straight-set win over Buffalo State in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, totaling 11 kills and 21 digs. Behind 11 kills and 13 digs, DiGiovanna helped New Paltz knock off host SUNY Fredonia on its home floor in the semifinals on Friday, 3-1. Finally, against SUNY Cortland in the finals on Saturday, she floored 15 kills and added 14 digs, but the Hawks fell in four sets to the Red Dragons. On the weekend, she averaged a team-best 3.18 kills per set (35 total) and a team-best 5.27 digs per set (58 total). As a result of her outstanding weekend, she was recognized on the All-Tournament Team.
