Supporting Hawks Student-Athlete Mental Health
The State University of New York at New Paltz partnered with AthleteTalk, a student-athlete mental health and wellness app, which will officially launched Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.
AthleteTalk is a mental health and wellness app that utilizes a social media wellness feed, multi-day wellness plans, wellness videos and more to engage athletes in mental health “workouts.” The app combines key features to mental health and compels athletes to regularly work on their mental health and wellness.
"We are excited to partner with AthleteTalk to support the mental health of our student-athletes,” said Hawks Director of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation Renee Bostic. “Mental health is critical to student-athlete success and well-being, and this partnership provides our students several resources to assist with their mental well-being. We appreciate the support of the College in helping to make this opportunity a reality."
Starting Friday, SUNY New Paltz student-athletes can download the AthletesTalk app on any Android or IOS app store and utilize the application to help in their everyday well-being. AthleteTalk includes more than 50 wellness plans that combine to provide content throughout the year for student-athletes, which promotes positing thinking, social justice, endurance, faith, success, mental health, humility and more.
AthleteTalk hopes to create a source for student-athletes to help understand the various dimensions of wellness from leadership to courage to faith, along with providing motivation for student-athletes to work on all aspects of their wellness game.
