Vega earned her program-record-extending 11th and 12th shutouts of the season on the week, helping New Paltz claim its first-ever conference title by beating SUNY Fredonia, 1-0, in the semifinal round of the 2011 SUNYAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament before besting SUNY Cortland by the same score in the championship match. During the week, she stopped all five shots that were put on goal, pushing her season save percentage to .905. The Blue Devils were unable to put a single shot on goal on Wednesday, but the Red Dragons fired five shots on frame in the title game on Saturday, all of which Vega turned aside. As a result of her excellence in goal, specifically late in the second half against a charging Cortland team Saturday, she was named the Tournament MVP. The Hawks are 13-5-2 overall (6-2-1 SUNYAC) and will compete in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament this weekend.
