Sweeney won two events against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday and posted two solid individual times against SUNY Oneonta on Friday, leading the Hawks to a 1-1 week. Against the Bears, he won the 100 backstroke in 56.56 and topped the field in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.24. Against the Red Dragons, Sweeney swam the leadoff leg on the meet-clinching 400 freestyle relay, which clocked a 3:20.98, and offered runner-up finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:53.21) and the 200 backstroke (2:06.87). New Paltz is 1-3 overall this season and returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 12, at home against SUNY Oswego at 1 p.m.
