Suzuka became the third New Paltz swimmer to earn the SUNYAC Most Outstanding Female Swimmer Award, as she was accorded the honor following the 2012 SUNYAC Swimming & Diving Championships. Joanna Masterson (2005, 06) and Michelle Coombs (2007, 08) each were two-time winners of the award. Current New Paltz assistant coach Michelle Rodriguez captured the honor the past three seasons while representing SUNY Geneseo. Suzuka won three individual events, hit two NCAA automatic-qualifying cuts and set two conference overall records during the three-day meet. She clocked a 2:08.62 time in the 200 individual medley on day one, which met NCAA provisional qualification. Suzuka followed that swim up on the meet's second day, as she charted an impressive 55.53 in the 100 backstroke. Her 100 backstroke time not only met NCAA automatic qualification, but it also set the conference meet and conference overall records. Finally, her time of 2:01.60 in the 200 backstroke on Saturday met the NCAA automatic standard and erased the conference meet and conference overall records. In addition to her individual event success, she competed on the Hawks’ second-place 400 medley relay (3:56.30), second-place 200 medley relay (1:47.27) and third-place 400 freestyle relay (3:33.40). Suzuka has automatically qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, which will occur from March 21-24 in Indianapolis. At the 2012 SUNYAC Championships, New Paltz finished fourth out of nine teams.
