Smith averaged 4.53 assists per set as a setter in a 6-2 offense, leading the Hawks to a 5-0 week that included three wins over teams ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division III Men’s Coaches Top-15 Preseason Poll (No. 14 Hunter College, the No. 9 Massachusetts Institute of Technology and No. 7 Rivier College). Smith also averaged 0.53 blocks per set, 1.12 digs per set, 1.59 kills per set and 0.29 service aces per set, and he played in 17 sets total. For his efforts at the Live Free or Die Invitational over the weekend, Smith was named the Tournament MVP. Smith dished out no fewer than 10 assists in the Hawks’ five matches, and against Endicott College on Sunday, he posted a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.
