Smith hit at a .500 clip (25-2-46) and averaged 6.00 assists per set (as a setter in a 6-2 offense) and 2.07 digs per set, as the Hawks went 3-1 this past week. On Wednesday in a 3-0 win against No. 12 Vassar College, he floored seven kills in 12 attempts with no errors, collected 17 assists and added six digs. In a five-set loss to No. 1 Nazareth College on Saturday, he handed out 28 assists and fashioned a .538 hitting percentage (8-1-13). To boot, he posted nine digs, three service aces and two total blocks against the Golden Flyers. Also on Saturday, he totaled 20 assists, 12 digs and four kills against Penn State Behrend in a 3-0 victory. Finally, on Sunday, he provided 19 assists, five kills and two digs in a 3-0 triumph over Hilbert College. For the year, he averages a team-best 5.48 assists per set in addition to 1.40 digs per set. New Paltz (17-5, 8-3 UVC) returns to action from March 22-23 at the Stevenson Invitational.
