Carozza compiled a 1.11 ERA in a 2-2 week for the Hawks, during which she went 1-1. Carozza threw a program-record 12 innings in a 6-5 loss to Union (N.Y.) College on April 24, giving up six runs, three of which were earned, off six hits and a walk while striking out three. She then was two batters shy of a perfect game on April 27, as one reached base by an error and another got on base with a hit. Carozza retired the next 20 batters in order to secure the 2-1 win. Carozza leads the team and ranks third in the SUNYAC in ERA (2.30), and her .236 opponents' batting average also stands third in the league and first on the team. To boot, she has struck out a team-high 57 batters. New Paltz (20-17, 11-7 SUNYAC) qualified for the 2013 SUNYAC Softball Championship Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will face second-seeded SUNY Cortland on Thursday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at The College at Brockport.
