Ammirati went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles competition in a 1-1 week for the Hawks. On Friday against Mount Saint Mary College, she partnered up with teammate Allie Starke at flight three doubles to win, 8-0, before prevailing, 6-1, 6-1, at flight one singles. After suffering an 8-2 defeat in flight three doubles with Starke, she rebounded to win, 6-2, 6-4, at the top singles flight. For the year, Ammirati is 8-4 in singles play and 6-5 in doubles play. New Paltz (6-3, 3-0 SUNYAC East) next competes at the 2013 SUNYAC Tennis Championships in Binghamton, N.Y., from Friday-Sunday, Oct. 11-13. The Hawks, who hold the East Division’s top seed, face off with the West Division’s No. 4 seed, SUNY Oswego, in the quarterfinal round at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
