Husmann hit .456 and averaged 2.83 kills per set and 0.50 blocks per set in a 3-1 week for the Hawks that included wins against two nationally-ranked teams. Husmann landed 11 kills and hit .444 in New Paltz's 3-1 home-opening loss to No. 4 Springfield College on Thursday. Husmann also added three block assists in the match against the Pride. He then broke out for 16 kills and hit .520 versus No. 7 Elmira College on Saturday, pacing the Hawks to a 3-1 triumph in the UVC Crossover match. Finally, on Sunday on the second and final day of the UVC Crossover, he had seven kills, three of which came late in the fourth set, to help lead New Paltz past No. 6 Nazareth, 3-1. For the year, Husmann ranks third on the team and 10th in the UVC in hitting percentage (.331), and he ranks second on the team in kills per set (2.45). New Paltz (10-1, 4-0 UVC) next faces Bard College in a UVC match on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
