Koenig helped break a program record in the 200 freestyle relay at the MIT Winter Invitational from Friday-Sunday, as the Hawks finished fifth out of six teams at the highly-competitive meet. On that 200 freestyle relay, Koenig anchored in a 20.66 to stop the clock at 1:24.46, and the Hawks placed fifth overall in the event. Koenig also participated on New Paltz's eighth-place 400 freestyle relay (3:10.15), 11th-place 200 medley relay (1:35.78), 14th-place 800 freestyle relay (7:19.59) and 14th-place 400 medley relay (3:35.94). Individually, Koenig finished 12th in the 50 freestyle (21.51; second-fastest time in the SUNYAC this season) and 13th in the 100 freestyle (47.47, 47.45 prelims; third-fastest time in the SUNYAC this season). The Hawks will now take a month off from competition before swimming at the St. Pete's Classic in St. Petersburg, Fla., during their annual winter training trip on Sunday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m.
