Koenig won two individual events and participated on four event-winning relays in a 2-0 week for the Hawks. On Friday against SUNY Cortland, he won two individual events and swam on two event-winning relays in a 155.5-106.5 victory. Individually, Koenig won the 50 freestyle (21.79) and the 100 freestyle (48.99). He also anchored the Hawks' 200 medley relay that won with a time of 1:37.51 and split a 20.84 anchoring New Paltz's first-place 200 freestyle relay (1:27.96). On Saturday in a 140-81 win over Mount Saint Mary College, he swam on two pool-record-setting relays and established a pool record in the 50 freestyle leading off the 200 freestyle relay. He anchored the Hawks' 200 medley relay (1:36.51) in 20.84 while charting a 21.54 50 freestyle leading off New Paltz's 200 freestyle relay (1:26.04). Koenig also placed second by .03 seconds in the 100 butterfly (56.13). He currently holds the second-fastest time in the SUNYAC in the 50 freestyle (21.51) and the third-fastest time in the conference in the 100 freestyle (47.45), both of which he swam at the MIT Winter Invitational last month. New Paltz (3-2) next visits Catskill Cup rival SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m.
