SUNY New Paltz Athletics

Freshman Cooper Knapp (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) set an Elting Pool and school record in the 100 backstroke on Friday evening as the New Paltz men's swimming team defeated visiting SUNY Cortland 138-116 in the first dual meet of the season for the program.

Knapp clocked a time of 51.12 in the 100 back, breaking the previous school record held by Jesse Sweeney '12 (51.65) in 2012 and the pool record set by Greg Charriez of Stevens (53.30), also in 2012. Knapp also took home first place in the 200 back with a reading of 2:01.10.
