The sophomore guard was named the MVP of the 2017 SUNYAC Tournament after scoring a game-high 18 points in the Hawks’ 58-57 win over host SUNY Geneseo in the championship game, handing the No. 16 Knights their first loss of the season and snapping a 26-game winning streak. Bettke went 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-7 from long distance to go along with two rebounds and one steal in 35 minutes of action to give New Paltz back-to-back SUNYAC titles and the third in program history. In the semifinals against Brockport, Bettke notched five points and three assists in 25 minutes. The Hawks earned the SUNYAC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, with the selection field announced on Monday, Feb. 27.
