NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team begins competition against familar State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foes on Saturday, Nov. 16, when the Hawks host SUNY Oswego at 1 p.m. at Elting Pool.

Records: New Paltz is 1-0 entering Saturday's meet, while Oswego is 3-1.

Scouting the Hawks: The Hawks return to Etling Pool for the first time since a Nov. 2 victory over Ramapo College… Last Friday and Saturday, New Paltz competed in the two-day New York University Invitational, racing against two of the top teams in Division III NCAA swimming, host NYU and Stevens Institute of Technology… The Hawks placed third, finishing meet with 119 points… NYU pulled away on Saturday to win with 396 points, while Stevens finished with 277 points... On Saturday, senior Chelsea Allocco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), sophomore Cassidy Griger (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central), sophomore Kim Kallansrude (Muttontown, N.Y./Jericho) and sophomore Maggie Heaton (New Milford, Conn./New Milford) each placed among the top five in at least one event... Allocco took third in the 400 individual medley (4:50.68) and fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:21.13), Griger placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:00.23) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (56.01), Kallansrude claimed third in the 200 butterfly (2:18.26) and Heaton finished fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.89)… On Friday, Allocco posted the Hawks' top finish in the 1,650 freestyle, clocking a fourth-place time of 18:12.37... Freshman Ann Fici (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) touched seventh in the mile with an 18:48.14 standard... New Paltz's 400 medley relay quartet of sophomore Griger, junior Samantha Granan (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt), Kallansrude and senior Victoria Scalise (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) charted a third-place time of 4:10.90, while the Hawks' 200 freestyle relay foursome of Griger, sophomore Ella Graffin (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca), sophomore Krista VerMeersch (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and Scalise came in third as well (1:40.58).

Scouting the Lakers: Oswego enters Saturday's meet with three straight wins, having defeated Clarkson 112-68 last Saturday… Prior to that victory, Oswego had victories over Wells (77-44) and SUNY Oneonta (150.5-78.5)... Against Clarkson, senior Lauren Jackson placed first in the 800-meter freestyle... Freshman Diana Galiatsatos came in first in the 200-meter freestyle... Junior Sabia Filiaci finished first in both the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly... Senior Katie Flood won the 200-meter IM while freshman Katelyn Bauersachs came in first in the 100-meter freestyle… Senior Ashley Rode was at the top of the 100-meter backstroke… Senior Samantha Moss scored a 148.40 in the one-meter dive and a 157.65 in the three-meter dive while junior Kathryn McKinney scored 138.05 in the one-meter dive.

Last Meeting: (Meet Results): On November 10, 2012, the Hawks won their first dual meet of the season, 148-95, over SUNY Oswego at Elting Pool... New Paltz placed first in all 14 events contested at the meet… Then juniors Allocco and Scalise and then seniors Yuka Suzuka and Carly Marshall all were double-event winners individually… Allocco captured first in the 1,000 freestyle (10:58.02) and the 200 individual medley (2:21.59)… Scalise placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:59.26) and the 100 freestyle (55.14)… Suzuka claimed first the 100 backstroke (1:01.60) and the 200 backstroke (2:14.57) and Marshall nabbed first in the 200 butterfly (2:14.60) and the 200 breaststroke (2:34.86)… Then freshman VerMeersch won the 100 breaststroke (1:13.67), then senior Katina Lown touched first in the 50 freestyle (25.80), then freshman Griger topped the 500 freestyle field (5:24.64) and then freshman Graffin notched a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:02.56).

Head Coaches: New Paltz is directed by sixth-year head coach Scott Whitbeck, while Oswego is led by seventh-year head coach Mike Holman.

What's Next: The Hawks will travel to cross river foe Vassar College for a 1 p.m. meet next Saturday at Kresge Pool. Oswego continues racing against SUNYAC teams next Saturday, hosting SUNY Brockport at Laker Pool at 1 p.m.
