NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team will compete at SUNY Oswego on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. at Laker Pool.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: The Hawks finished third of four teams at last weekend's NYU Invitational… New Paltz accrued 659 points… Junior
Cassidy Griger had two top-five finishes with a second-place showing in the 200 free (1:58.41) and fifth-place reading in the 100 free (55.10)… Senior
Samantha Granan finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.10) and sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.22)… The 200 medley relay team of Griger, Granan, freshman
Molly McCulloch and junior
Krista VerMeersch placed second with a reading of 1:53.21…The 800 freestyle relay squad of Griger, freshman
Megan Joseph, junior
Ella Graffin (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) and junior
Casey O'Connor (8:15.41) and the 400 freestyle relay contingent of Joseph, McCulloch, O'Connor and Griger each finished third.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS: The Lakers are 1-3 this season… Oswego fell to Clarkson 146-138 on Saturday at home… The Lakers have also fell to RIT and Oneonta before picking up a 105-63 victory over Wells... Last season, the Lakers placed eighth of nine teams at the 2013-14 State Unviersity of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships... Against Clarkson, senior Sabia Filaci won the 200 fly in 2:23.77 and placed first in the 100 fly (1:01.09)… Senior Kathryn McKinney won the 50 free (27.22) and placed second in the 100 fly (1:06.05)… Filaci, McKinney, freshmen Natalie Brophy and Kaylin Luhrs combined to win the 400 freestyle relay (4:03.68).
LAST DUAL MEET: The Hawks defeated Oswego 135-65 when these two teams last met on Nov. 16, 2013.
WHAT'S NEXT: New Paltz hosts cross-river rival Vassar College on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m… The Lakers head to The College at Brockport on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
