NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Looking to ride momentum after winning the Wesleyan Tournament over the weekend, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team hosts Hudson Valley rival Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. for the Hawks' home opener.
 
RECORDS: New Paltz is 3-2 this season after a 2-1 mark last week… The Knights are 1-3 with their lone victory coming over Hunter.
 

19874SCOUTING THE HAWKS (3-2): New Paltz captured the Courtyard by Marriott Tournament title at Wesleyan (Conn.) on Sunday after beating the host Cardinals 50-48… Sophomore guard/forward Kit Small was named the Tournament MVP after averaging 11.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg during the two-day event… Sophomore forward Courtney Irby was named to the All-Tournament Team, averaging 8.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg… The Hawks defeated Purchase 76-46 on Friday night as senior guard Shannan Walker scored a team-high 12 points… New Paltz was edged by Vassar 57-56 on Wednesday despite rallying a comeback with just 15 seconds remaining in the game… Earlier this season, New Paltz defeated the Knights 61-40 in the Emmanuel Tournament consolation game, with Irby scoring 12 points and Small hauling in 14 rebounds.

5834SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (1-3): Mount Saint Mary fell to Manhattanville 67-61 on Friday, Nov. 21… Four players finished in double figures in the loss with freshman forward Bridget Kelly, sophomore guard Marisa Delzio and senior guard Lauren Romao all scoring 13 points… Senior forward Natalie Candarelli notched 11 points… In the Knights' win over Hunter, Delzio scored a team-high 17 points while Romao notched 11 points off the bench… Mount Saint Mary began the year dropping both games at the Emmanuel Tournament, including a 61-40 loss to New Paltz… The Knights were predicted to finish sixth of seven teams in the 2014-15 Skyline Conference Preseason Poll.
