Binghamton, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team was on the road today for their final road trip of the fall. The Hawks will play a trio of matches over three days against SUNYAC teams at the Binghamton Tennis Club. They won their first match of the three-day trip against the Knights of SUNY Geneseo 8-1.  

"It took us a while to breakdown 3 strong Geneseo doubles teams with both our #2 & #3 teams finding a way to come out on top 8-6 & 8-6. All 3 doubles teams produced strong put away volleys at the net One doubles broke down their opponents after a few games to run out 8-3 winners. A similar pattern followed in the singles matches. Sometimes it can take a few games to figure out how you are going to beat your opponent and that was the case today. Onalee Batcheller had a very narrow defeat losing in 3rd set tiebreaker, but she will bounce back tomorrow. The big hitting match at #1 singles saw Justine Stanejko come out on top against the undefeated Geneseo freshman. Another dominating performance from her. Congrats to Isabel van der Veen, Tatiana Barnett, Loretta Donovan, and Amirah Alston for a really well played solid singles performances that saw the team win 8-1 against a strong Geneseo line up," said Coach Rob Bruley.

The Hawks will return tomorrow, October 6, when they continue their road trip at the Binghamton Tennis Club against SUNY Fredonia at Noon in Binghamton, NY.
