POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz swim teams were in action Friday on the road a short drive across the Hudson River at Vassar College. The men and women both came in second to the host Brewers.
Jack Wirth finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.40. Wirth would also claim first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:00.96. Antonio Vavalle claimed first in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:35.23. Vavalle took the top spot in the 500-yard freetsyle as well with a time of 5:02.80. The men took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (Venn Engstrom, Jack Samko, Steven Macaluso and Antonio Vavalle) in a time of 3:19.29. Alexander Gorzula finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.12. Gorzula would also take first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:03.78. The men would also take second in the 200-yard medley relay (Jack Wirth, Venn Engstrom, Steven Macaluso, and Jack Samko) in a time of 1:39.67.
Sierra DePry claimed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.03. The women took first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (Sierra DePry, Molly Snyder, Abigail Keiser, and Shannon Corr) with a time of 4:03.83. Chloe Jeffares claimed first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:32.72. Angelina Somma claimed second, close behind her teammate in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:33.41.

The Hawks will have a quick turnaround as they return to action tomorrow, November 18, when they host the New Paltz Tri-meet in Elting Pool at 1:00 PM.
