Poughkeepsie, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz put an end to its four-game losing skid with a dominating road win over Vassar, 10-0.
James McGovern earned the start for the Hawks and gave his team four solid innings of work, giving up five hits, no walks and no runs with two strikeouts.
Bobby Ramsey came in for relief, pitching two innings, giving up just a hit and a walk with three strikeouts on eight batter's faced and earned his second win of the season.
SUNY New Paltz jumped out in front with a four-run third inning, which was started on a
Tommy Kreider lead-off single. Justin and
Nick Harvey loaded the bases as both were hit by pitches before
Dillon Ristano brought the first run across with an RBI single.
Justin Harvey scored on a wild pitch an at-bat later before another walk and a hit-by-pitch pushed the SUNY New Paltz lead to 3-0.
Justin Ortiz capped the scoring, as a fielder's choice plated RIstano to extend the advantage to 4-0.

Garrett Grathwohl home with Ristano doubling in the sixth to plate
Justin Harvey to push the score to 6-0. Christopher Said knocked a sacrifice fly to bring Ortiz home in the seventh before Ristano recorded another RBI on a fielder's choice before inning's end. SUNY New Paltz capped its offense in the ninth with Ristano and Grathwohl each recording an RBI apiece to solidify the 10-0 outcome.
Kreider led the Hawks with four hits, going 4-for-6 with two runs. Ristano finished 3-for-6 with a run and four RBI. Ortiz hit 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI with Grathwohl finishing 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and two walks.
SUNY New Paltz is back in action Friday and Saturday for a three-game series against NYU, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday on Loren Campbell Field.
