Julia Sabatino Named to D3Hoops All-Region III Third Team

New Paltz, NY — The D3Hoops Women's Basketball All-Region teams were announced Tuesday with Hawks graduate student Julia Sabatino named to the D3hoops All-Region III Third Team, becoming the seventh Hawk to earn the accolade.

Sabatino was joined by 14 others on the Region III squad across three teams. SUNY Canton's Natalie Bartle, Cortland's Kayla Campbell and Oswego's Giavanna White-Principio also represented the SUNYAC on the list.

Sabatino had a career year in her fifth and final season for the Hawks, as she became the team's most valuable player in all facets. She finished second on the team in points, scoring a career-high 286 points, while averaging 10.6 per game and was just five shy of leading the team on the glass as well, grabbing a career-high 193 rebounds to average 7.1 per game. Sabatino led her team and all of SUNYAC with a career-high 133 assists, averaging nearly five per game.

The Bayville, NY native was the catalyst all season as she brought constant energy to every second she was on the floor, which was a team-leading 32.6 minutes per game. She played a full 40 minutes of basketball in four different games, and recorded 39-plus in three others, as she ran the Hawks offense from the point guard position. She etched her name into the program's record books early in the season, becoming just the third player ever to record a triple double, totaling 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in an early season win over Buffalo State. Sabatino recorded a season-high 19 points against California Lutheran and finished with a double-double three times, including six games with double-digit rebounding totals, recording a career-high 15 against Oneonta Feb. 22.

Additionally, Sabatino became the program's first ever SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year selection after accounting for a team-most 73 steals and added 15 blocks.

She finishes her career with 553 career points, 442 rebounds, 294 assists, third most all-time and 173 steals, tied for 11th most in program history.

Sabatino joins Kit Small (2017), Lindsay Bettke (2019), Rachel Simon (2019), Maddie Van Pelt (2020), Brianna Fitzgerald (2022, 2023 & 2024) and Jenny Walton (2024) to earn D3Hoops All-Region honors.
