In 2006, the Hawk Center became the new home for New Paltz basketball and volleyball, after those programs spent most of their existence in Elting Gym. This state-of-the-art arena has been friendly to the Hawk teams since its opening, as women’s basketball is 76-14 at home since the gym’s opening, while women’s volleyball rattled off a 33-match home win streak that stretched from 2006-11. Men's basketball and men's volleyball have also enjoyed memorable moments in the Hawk Center, challenging nationally-ranked teams in front of raucous crowds.Hawk Center

The Hawk Center comfortably seats 1,800 people, and there is not a single bad seat in the house. In spite of its size, crowds oftentimes give the Hawks a home-court advantage in this palatial venue. The Athletic & Wellness Center’s elevated track surrounds the upper perimeter of the arena, and there are windows from the track level overlooking the gym in each of the four corners. An elevated press box with land Ethernet connections and a phone line makes for easy setup for broadcast crews, and the courtside press row also enjoys Ethernet hookups. While eating and drinking in the stands is prohibited, there is an abundance of space outside of the gym to snack on concessions from Half Court, the official concession stand of New Paltz Athletics. Half Court is located right by the passageway from the Elting Gym side of the building to the Athletic & Wellness Center side.
