mary gray deane field

Mary Gray Deanne Field Mary Gray Deane Field moved to its current location in 2003 to make way for the construction of Lenape Hall. Mary Gray Deane, a New Paltz Athletics Hall of Fame member who served as a director of athletics and coach from 1924-59, serves as the field’s namesake. Offering a natural-grass outfield and a dirt infield, the facility serves as a solid NCAA Division III softball field. There is a double-wide hitting cage along the third-base line and a double-wide bullpen along the first-base line, both of which are open for use by opposing teams.

The bleachers around the first- and third-base lines seat approximately 100 spectators, but perhaps the best view of the field is from the hill just beyond the center field wall below the outside of the track. A windscreen with the new Hawk athletics logos emblazoned on it was hung on the outfield fence in 2010, and in 2011, both a state-of-the-art scoreboard beyond the right field wall and a backstop with the New Paltz logo were installed.
