Steve Nilsen

Steven Nilsen will begin his third season as an assistant coach for the SUNY New Paltz Hawks baseball program. Nilsen’s duties will consist of working with Hitters and outfielders. As well as, coaching first base.

Steven Nilsen graduated from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York in 2007 with a bachelor’s in sports management, then moved on to Sage Colleges of Albany, earning his bachelor’s in physical education in 2012. In 2014, Nilsen topped off his education by earning a Master of Science in health education from Kaplan University. He is currently working on his second master’s in educational leadership.

Nilsen began his coaching career in 2010 coaching Legion Baseball. Nilsen then moved on to a volunteer assistant baseball coach job at Marist College in 2011, a position he held until 2016. In 2017, Nilsen was named the assistant baseball coach at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh. Nilsen is currently a physical education teacher at North Park Elementary since 2012.

Nilsen currently resides in New Paltz with his wife Nicole and their two kids Quinn and Troy.
