SUNY New Paltz Athletics

Cain was promoted to Assistant Director of Wellness and Recreation in May 2025 after two years of service with SUNY New Paltz Athletics, Wellness & Recreation. Since joining the Hawks, Cain has served in a variety of roles within the department, taking on increasing responsibilities in facility operations, student staff supervision, intramural sports, club sports, and varsity event management.

During the 2025-26 academic year, Cain oversaw more than 150 student employees within the Athletic and Wellness Center, including building supervisors, front desk and weight room attendants, group fitness instructors, intramural officials, and lifeguards. Under Cain's leadership, Intramural Sports reached record participation during the 2025-26 academic year, with more than 700 students participating in leagues, tournaments, and special events.

Cain also launched the department's "Clean Out for a Cause" initiative, which repurposes lost-and-found and donated athletic equipment and clothing to support children and communities domestically and internationally where access to athletic gear and clothing is limited. In addition, Cain coordinates more than 20 club sport practices and game reservations each semester and has served as the game manager for Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse and both the men's and women's basketball programs, including during SUNYAC playoff contests hosted at New Paltz.

Prior to his promotion, Cain served in several operational roles within Athletics, Wellness & Recreation. Beginning in the summer of 2023, he served as Lead Building Supervisor for the Athletic and Wellness Center, with responsibilities extending into the fall semester. In that role, Cain supervised and managed more than 50 student employees, including building monitors, weight room attendants, lifeguards, and intramural staff. He also oversaw club sport practices, competitions, and scheduling at the Athletic and Wellness Center and throughout campus athletic facilities.

During the 2022-23 academic year, Cain assisted the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation with departmental operations, including organizing and processing officials' paperwork for home varsity contests. He also served as game manager for men's and women's basketball, softball, baseball, and men's lacrosse contests, including the 2023 SUNYAC Softball Championship. Additionally, Cain worked as a building supervisor during New Paltz Youth Basketball Association programming.

Throughout his time with the Hawks, Cain has continued to expand his role within Athletics, Wellness & Recreation, with a focus on student employment, recreational programming, facility operations, and creating meaningful opportunities for the New Paltz campus community.
