Ron Domanski was inducted into the New Paltz Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 15, entering with the Class of 2010.
Domanski brought a distinguished résumé to the New Paltz men’s basketball program upon his arrival on campus, having competed alongside Mitch Kupchak, a future University of North Carolina star and Los Angeles Lakers general manager, in high school. Despite his 6-foot, 3-inch frame, Domanski provided a consistent force in the post for the Hawks at center, averaging nearly a double-double per game his sophomore season.
Domanski finished his career with more than 1,000 points and is one of only 13 Hawk players in the history of the program to have reached a quadruple-figure point total. For two years during his collegiate tenure, he lent his height and athletic ability to the New Paltz men’s volleyball team. He twice earned All-SUNYAC accolades and received the Heinz Ahlmeyer Award following the 1976-77 year in recognition of his dedication, perseverance and service beyond self.
He recently retired from a successful career as a high school art teacher.
