Smith hit .353 (23-5-51) and averaged 5.89 assists per set, 2.56 kills per set, 1.78 digs per set, 0.11 service aces per set and 0.11 blocks per set in a 1-1 week for the third-ranked and fourth-seeded Hawks, helping the team make the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in as many years. Matched up against five-ranked and fifth-seeded Kean University on Friday in the quarterfinals, he hit .375 (12-3-24) and doled out 25 assists in the team's 3-1 victory over the Cougars. In a tough five-set loss to the top-ranked and top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday in the semifinals, he posted a triple-double with 28 assists, 12 digs and 11 kills while hitting .333 (11-2-27). Smith, who was named as an All-American for the second straight year, finished the year averaging 5.55 assists per set in a 6-2 offense while hitting .351 (245-63-518). New Paltz finished its season at 27-6 overall (7-1 UVC).
