Box ScoreSCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team (9-8) saw its three-game win streak come to an end Wednesday afternoon against Union (N.Y.) College (9-7) on Frank Bailey Field, losing by a 4-1 final in non-conference action.
Isabel Zellweger scored two goals for the Dutchwomen, while Union's Kelsey Powers offered a goal and an assist.
Despite outshooting the hosts by an 18-16 margin, New Paltz's attack was unable to beat Union goalkeeper Mary McCune. McCune turned aside seven of the eight shots that New Paltz put on frame.
Powers opened scoring in the 15th minute, rattling the back of the cage off a penalty corner.
Tyler Willey and Zellweger scored just 14 seconds apart in the 21st minute, giving Union a commanding 3-0 edge heading into the intermission.
Zellweger tacked on her second goal of the contest in the 35th minute, scoring just 48 seconds into the second frame. Powers was credited with an assist on the play.

Stacey Miller (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) broke up Union's shutout bid in the 52nd minute when she cashed in on a pass from senior midfielder

Elizabeth Dini (Sayville, N.Y.) was saddled with the loss, making five stops in a full 70 minutes of work in goal for the Hawks.
New Paltz contests Kean University at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, in its regular-season finale in Union, N.J. The bout with the Cougars will serve as the team's final tune-up before facing No. 10 SUNY Cortland in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament semifinals on Nov. 5 in Geneseo, N.Y.
