Hawks Overwhelm Sage in Women’s Volleyball Action

Box Score

TROY, N.Y. – The Sage Colleges (0-8) could not keep up with the State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (6-4) on Wednesday evening in non-conference action, as the Hawks rolled to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-17) victory.

New Paltz established its presence early, taking the first set with ease. Sage crept closer in the two ensuing sets, but the Hawks' firepower ultimately quashed any chance the Gators had.

Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Lavender (Apalachin, N.Y.) paced the attack with seven kills, while freshman setter Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y.) distributed 14 assists. Freshman libero Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) bolstered the blue and orange's defensive efforts with seven digs, and senior middle hitter Dana Kindelmann (Nesconset, N.Y.) fortified the front row with three blocks.

New Paltz hosts its annual Hawks Invitational on Friday and Saturday in the Hawk Center, looking to win the event for the seventh time in as many years. The blue and orange meets State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) nemesis SUNY Fredonia in its opening match at 4 p.m. on Friday.
