NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team (5-3-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) defeated the Buffalo State Bengals (2-6-0, 0-2 SUNYAC) in a State University of New York Athletic Conference contest, 2-0, held Friday afternoon on Alumni Field.  
The first shot of the game was not until the 14th minute, as both teams played tight defense from the sound of the whistle.  Sophomore forward 
Harrison Lane (Glenmont, N.Y.) unleashed the first shot, which was blocked by a Bengal defender.  
The blue and orange put a number on the scoreboard in the 18th minute.  Junior midfielder 
Tommy Garafola (Richmond Hill, N.Y.) took a New Paltz corner and found teammate 
Jimmy Altadonna (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), who on a nifty piece of footwork scored the goal for the Hawks. 
The Hawks substituted in fresh legs and capitalized again in the 31st minute.  Junior forward 
Jamal Lis-Simmons (Highland, N.Y.) delivered a pass to senior forward 
Michael Ackerman (Castleton, N.Y.), who ripped a shot, into the upper 90, giving New Paltz a 2-0 advantage.  
In the 56th minute, Altadonna nearly struck again for the Hawks when his shot went right of the post.
New Paltz would hold on for the conference victory, moving to 2-0-0 in the league.
The Hawks held an 18-10 edge in shots and an 8-2 cushion in corners.
Buffalo State keeper Brian Dudek allowed two goals while saving seven shots in 90 minutes of play.  
Junior goalkeeper Thomas Viscardi (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) boasted four saves on the afternoon.
New Paltz returns to action tomorrow when it hosts SUNY Fredonia.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
