Kondelka’s Goal Spoils Buffalo State’s Shutout Bid

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team (1-6-1, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) suffered a 5-1 loss at the hands of Buffalo State (5-3-1, 2-0-0 SUNYAC) in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Friday afternoon in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Bengals scored in the 23rd minute and struck again in the 32nd and 36th minutes, taking a 3-0 lead into the break. They tacked on two more goals in the opening five minutes of the second stanza before sophomore forward Shelby Kondelka (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) one-touched a shot off a rebound in the 76th minute to erase Buffalo State's shutout bid.

On the match, Buffalo State barely held the upper hand in shots, 13-8, and took four corner kicks to New Paltz's two.

Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Vega (Oceanside, N.Y.) played the full 90 in net for the blue and orange, making a game-high four saves.

New Paltz looks to rebound tomorrow when it travels to Fredonia, N.Y., to face the SUNY Fredonia Blue Devils in SUNYAC action at 1 p.m.
