MADISON, N.J. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team (1-2-0) lost to Farleigh Dickinson-College at Florham by a count of 1-0 Sunday afternoon at FDU Field in non-conference action.
Despite outshooting the Devils (2-1-0) by a 14-8 margin and putting four shots on target, the Hawks were unable to finish. The blue and orange also wound up taking nine corner kicks to FDU-Florham's three.
After a scoreless first half, Emin Matezic ripped the back of the net in the 67th minute to put the Devils on top. FDU-Florham kept the Hawks scoreless down the stretch to maintain the shutout victory.
Junior goalkeeper Thomas Viscardi (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) sustained the loss in goal for New Paltz, making two stops. Kevin Herbert gained the victory in between the pipes for the Devils, collecting four saves.
The Hawks seek to even their record on Tuesday afternoon when they face Bard College in a non-conference contest at Alumni Field. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
