Box Score

NEW PALTZ, N.Y.
 – Junior forward Jamal Lis-Simmons (Highland, N.Y.) scored two goals and added an assist as the State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team (2-2-0) cruised to a 4-0 non-conference victory over Bard College Tuesday afternoon on Alumni Field.

Nearly the entirety of the contest was played in New Paltz's attacking third, as the Hawks sent a barrage of shots in the direction of the Raptor goal. On the afternoon, New Paltz outshot Bard (0-3-0) by a 35-2 margin.

Senior forward Michael Ackerman (Castleton, N.Y.) broke a scoreless tie in the 37th minute when he blasted a header into the right-hand side of the net off of a pass by sophomore defender Nicholas DiPaola (Huntington, N.Y.). Lis-Simmons, a 28-year-old junior who played at the University at Albany from 2000-01, scored his first goal as a Hawk when he ripped a shot from point-blank range off of a feed from freshman forward Ben Quinn (Shoreham, N.Y.) in the 40th minute.

Junior midfielder Tommy Garafola (Richmond Hill, N.Y.) netted his first score of the year when Lis-Simmons laced a cross in from the right wing at 59:22. Finally, in the 63rd minute, Lis-Simmons closed scoring after he buried a pass from junior midfielder Michael Santalesa (New Hyde Park, N.Y.).

Drawing the start in net for the Hawks, junior goalkeeper Thomas Viscardi (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) made one save and held the Raptors scoreless through 72 minutes and 15 seconds of action. Freshman goalkeeper Conor Power (White Plains, N.Y.) took over in the 72nd minute and maintained the shutout.

Deven Connelly made a game-high 11 stops in between the pipes for the Raptors.

New Paltz continues its six-game home stand this Saturday when it squares off with Vassar College at 1 p.m. at Alumni Field.
