Box Score Box Score

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team (5-6-1, 1-2-1 SUNYAC) took another hard-luck loss Saturday afternoon, falling, 1-0, to The College of Brockport (6-3-1, 3-1-0 SUNYAC) at the Turf Field in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action.

Hawk senior midfielder Michael Santalesa (New Hyde Park, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) led New Paltz's scoring chances with four shots, two of which were on frame. Senior defender Jamal Lis-Simmons (Highland, N.Y./Highland) had New Paltz's only other shot on goal.

Golden Eagle goalkeeper Kyle Sauln earned his fifth shutout of the season in defeating the Hawks, collecting three saves along the way. Sophomore goalkeeper Conor Power (White Plains, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) amassed four saves for the Hawks in the loss.

Brockport scored the only goal of the game at 31:28 when, off an Aubrey Brown free kick in the middle of New Paltz territory, midfielder Bobby Ross was able to elevate in the box high enough to head the ball past Power.

Both teams played very physical styles, leading to an abundance of yellow cards. New Paltz was given three, while Brockport was assessed two. The Golden Eagles were charged 27 fouls compared to the Hawks' 24.

New Paltz outshot Brockport in the game, 17-11, and held the advantage in corner-kick opportunities, 7-2.

The Hawks continue their trek through the regular season Friday, Oct. 7, taking on SUNY Plattsburgh at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field in SUNYAC play.
