Box Score Box Score

MADISON, N.J. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team (9-5-1) was unable to find the back of the net against Drew University (6-7-0) in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon, as the host Rangers topped the Hawks by a 1-0 final.

Drew's Christine Meconi provided the lone goal of the match in the 24th minute, scoring unassisted off of a shot from the right side that was just outside of the 18-yard box. New Paltz had its chances, putting seven shots on frame, but Drew utilized two goalkeepers to prevent the Hawks from reaching the scoreboard.

Ranger goalkeeper Agata Dera earned the win, leaving the game midway through the first half with a four-save shutout in hand. Jeramie Barletta took over at 33:58 and maintained the clean sheet, turning aside three shots. For New Paltz, junior goalkeeper Stephanie Vega (Oceanside, N.Y./Baldwin Senior) made six saves in the loss.

Drew held the edge in shots by a 16-10 margin, but New Paltz took three corner kicks to the Rangers' none.

The Hawks host a crucial State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Friday, Oct. 14, squaring off with SUNY Oneonta at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field.
